The loading was continued up to 200% and the load deflection curve shows that the structure stress is still within the elastic limit and conforms closely to the calculated figures.
When the car had been unloaded and the permanent set in the underframe measured, a definite deformation at each doorway remained, this being attributed to the joints in the top and bottom cant rails over each doorway.
I consider it would be possible to remove the present restriction on the loading of these cars if one of the two following alternatives were adopted :-
Mr.Stanley outlined the difficulty in supplying wiring diagrams for the E. and N.E.Regions and L.M.R. M.P.S. and said that owing to serious shortage of draughtsmen he could not give any estimate of when this work could be undertaken. The job requires to be done by electrical draughtsmen and Mr.Butland suggested the use of students during the Christmas vacation. Mr.Stanley will consider this suggestion and contact Mr.Butland as necessary.
Mr.Adkinson referred to the difficulties being experienced in his department owing to the absence of wiring diagrams and said that, in addition to these, it was necessary for the M.P.S. to be supplied with diagrams of any modifications made to units.
When the 2-car unit was standing at Trent station platform it was noticed that the lights in the motor car were very much brighter than in the trailer. The Chairman said it was very desirable that the lighting on the two vehicles should be equally bright and Mr.Stanley will look into this matter.
Mr.Gould's letter of the 10th November respecting the interchangeability of diesel units within each operating area considered and the C.O.S. will raise the question with the N.E.Region.
