Mr.Butland agreed that the condition of the permanent way is not good but every endeavour is being made to bring about an improvement; he was of the opinion that attention should be given to the springs of the units and Mr.Stanley will arrange for the camber to be lifted.

One 3-car unit to be delivered May 1956. In regard to this unit, Mr.Stanley will bear in mind the difficulties which are being experienced in relation to similar units on the Watford - St.Albans branch.
The Chairman said he had been approached by Alderman Marshall of the Blackpool Corporation for the provision of a fast service of diesel units between Preston and Blackpool during the period of the above Fair from February 6th-10th, 1956.
Mr.Stanley said the necessary units could be provided from those being built for the Manchester (Part 1) Scheme, and Messrs.Gould and Read will see what service can be given. The C.C.M. will also keep in touch with the Corporation and advise them in due course what is proposed, and also with Mr.Stanley regarding supply of the units.
