3.  Allocation of units being built at Derby and by contractors

(a)  Revised schedule of allocation attached as Appendix 'B'.

(b)  Revision of requirements of units for L.M.R. Schemes.  The Chairman will consider necessity for B.T.C. to be advised of amended requirements in relation to units already authorised for schemes in operation and those for which units are on order.

4.  Refreshment services on Cross Country trains

Awaiting joint report from departments concerned.

5.  Conveyance of parcels traffic

Three diesel parcels vans on order for the West Cumberland Area from Messrs. Cravens. Requirements of diesel parcel vans for future schemes is under consideration and two such vans will be requested in the submission in respect of Manchester Part 2 Scheme.

6.  Dieselisation costings

Mr. Nicholls reported that this investigation is actively proceeding.

7.  Design of standard units of 57' stock

(a)  Streamlining

Noted that the design of multiple unit diesel is to be considered by the Design Panel.

(b)  Rolls Royce 8-cylinder engines

Noted that Mr.Bird has been advised that the bogie modifications to the unit are in hand at Derby Works and it is not anticipated these will be complete until the end of April.  The unit will then be prepared for exhibition between 6th - 11th May and the modifications requiring Rolls Royce material will be carried out immediately afterwards and it will not be possible to send the unit to Lincoln until the week ending 8th June.

(c)  Smoking Compartments

Drawing DE.56895 circulated shows two alternative arrangements for non-smoking compartments in future 2-car sets.  Members will consider at next meeting.
