Mr.Baker explained the difficulties in converting the present premises at Cricklewood Motive Power Depot for use for the maintenance of diesel multiple units and diesel locomotives, and it was noted that a meeting had been arranged between regional officers and Commission officers to consider the matter.
The Chairman stressed the urgency of the submission being made for authority in respect of the whole scheme. It was noted that the final plan was with the Signal Engineer and the contract had been placed for the steel work for the diesel section of the scheme for which authority had been obtained.
Mr.Gould reported that he had fully investigated the possible sites for maintenance facilities in this area to deal with about 45 diesel units which could not be dealt with at Etches Park and considered that the most suitable site would be Nottingham Low Level Passenger Station. Mention was made of the possibility of the premises being required for warehousing purposes, and it was agreed that Messrs. Gould, Dow and Baker further investigate and prepare a detailed scheme.
