Noted that meeting had now been held with Cumberland Motor Services and report from Director of Traffic Services would shortly be submitted.
Noted that the basic number of units required to cover this service was still under consideration.
The Chairman said a letter had been received from the Commission which stated that the expenditure on maintenance facilities for diesel main line locomotives should be kept to the minimum in view of the experience of foreign railways which showed that facilities expected to be necessary often proved to be in excess of actual requirements. This should be borne in mind when future schemes were under consideration.
