Mr.Fiske called attention to the fact that, whilst provision of maintenance and fuelling facilities for these schemes was proceeding as a matter of urgency, the position remained that no submissions had yet been made for the provision of vehicles and introduction of diesel services, despite the fact that vehicles were being received.
Mr.Gould said that the pattern of services for the schemes now lay with the Divisional Traffic Managers, but even when their requests were received, a further three or four months would be required for time-tabling, staff, rolling stock, etc. statistics to be compiled for costing, after which the Accountant would undertake the financial appraisal.
A full discussion ensued but no decision was reached regarding the future method of compilation of the reports and it was left that Mr.Fiske would discuss the matter with Mr.Pearson.
Preliminary report received and circulated. Deferred for consideration at the next meeting.
Noted that the question of the use of the A.C.V. units as parcels vans was in hand between the Director of Traffic Services and the Chief Mechanical & Electrical Engineer.
Mr.Johnson reported that, following the October census, the diesel service between Penrith and Workington was being reviewed.
Deferred for consideration at the next meeting.
