894. GRAB HANDLES ON ST.PANCRAS AND MARYLEBONE
SUBURBAN DIESEL SETS
Mr.Stanley produced photographs of a modified design of grab handle
and stated that the estimated cost of fitting the handles to the St.Pancras and
Marylebone suburban diesel units and also the similar vehicles on the Manchester
Central/Liverpoool Central service (a total of 71 4-car sets) was about
£2,700. If, however, the work was carried out at the separate
maintenance depots, it would probably have to be done at weekends and the labour
cost would be higher.
It was agreed that the Line Traffic Manager, Derby, should report on
the necessity for, and suitability of, the grab handles.
