Bathgate to Buchanan St. The Branch Line Society “Forth Clyde Wanderer” of 27th August 1977 took a refurbished Met Camm DMU over various rare routes in central Scotland. One of the photostops was at the former Bathgate Upper station, where the destination of Glasgow Buchanan St on SC51464 would have further confused any surprised locals. Murray Liston.
Railtour at Ravenscraig. The Branch Line Society “Forth Clyde Wanderer” of 27th August 1977 took a refurbished Met Camm DMU over various rare routes in central Scotland (but not Ballater as shown on the destination blind!) One of the photostops was at Ravenscraig No3 Yard, where we were joined by BSC Shunter DH63, Hunslet 0-6-0DH 7188 of 1970. Murray Liston.
On the 5th March 1978 Refurbished Class 101 DMCL SC51516 is inside Eastfield TMD, Glasgow, having it's underfloor equipment cleaned by a fitter with a steam lance to remove the oil and grease that build up with constant use. She would last for another 20 years in service before withdrawl in September 1989 and scrapping at Snailwell, Suffolk during September 1990. Bob Woolnough.
