A four-car Class 101 DMU in Saltburn station with the 15:55 service to Darlington on 28 February 1975. DMSL E50162 is closest. Robert Thomas.
Middlesbrough hat trick. Class 101s rule at Middlesbrough on 8/5/1977, with DMS E50162 on the left. Stephen Burdett.
Two DMUs in Battersby station on 12 August 1981. On the left E50162 is working the 16:10 Whitby - Middlesbrough while on the right E50293 (E50751 is the blue vehicle in the set) is on the 16:44 Middlesbrough - Whitby. Robert Thomas.

A Class 101 power twin with E50162 closest at Thornaby, date unknown. Paul Redmond.
E53162 is at the front of the 12:18 Hexham - Newcastle service departing from Wylam station on March 9th, 1985. Another Met-Camm set can be seen in the distance departing in the opposite direction. Hamish Stevenson.
Whitby station with 53162 and 54086 having arrived from Middlesbrough 15th March 1986. Keith Long.
Class 101 53162 is seen stabled at York station on 27.03.1989. Note the leading bogie is running on a skate. Andy Cole.
Vic Berry's yard on 3rd June 1990 had three Met-Camm DMCL, 53162 thought to be closest, stripped and awaiting their fate, one unusually still with Chilcotts exhaust silencers. My memory tells me that there was a vehicle there at this time still with tungsten lighting and was probably un-refurbished, possibly 51510. If anyone has any further information I'd love to know what these three are. A 207 driving vehicle seems to be behind. Ian Hazlehurst.
Whitby on the 24th April 1977. Nearest the camera are cars 50188 and 50162, each unit still unrefurbished at this stage, retaining all four front lights. The unit on the left appears to be 4-cars. Plenty of history in this image, with orange BR NER signage, station accessories / equipment plus all the tracks into the station terminus are still intact. With diminishing services, the station was later rationalised to just the single track on the left. Graeme Phillips Collection.
The Hertfordshire Railtours "The Norseman" relief tour at Bedale on 4 February 1984. Taken from 53171 looking back along cars 59085 + 53265 and 51246 + 53162 and 53188 + 51219. Rob Paterson.
The Hertfordshire Railtours "The Norseman" relief tour at Redmire on 4 February 1984. Taken from 59085 with 53265 and 51246 + 53162 and 53188 + 51219 in view. Rob Paterson.
Class 101 DMBS E51215 and DMCL E53162 approach Leeds Station with a morning commuter service on the 1st August 1988. Although I believe E51215 was allocated to Leeds Neville Hill TMD at this time a set code 04, outside the normal Neville Hill range, is applied in larger than usual numbers. Bob Woolnough.
A Class 101 (DMBS E51215 carrying an old set number and presumably DMCL E53162) with a Class 108 at Armathwaite on 24 August 1988. Note the neat platelayers hut on the right of the track which appeared to be still in use at the time. Peter Tandy.
I went to the S & C on 24 August 1988 to photograph steam locomotive 34092 City of Wells, and had the chance to have some shots of service trains. This one shows a pair of DMUs - Class 101 (probably 51215 + 53162) on the left and a Class 108 - crossing Long Marton Viaduct. Peter Tandy.
Now a Neville Hill vehicle 53986 still carries set number CH280 from its previous allocation. It is paired with Met-Camm 53162 (together they formed set NL470) when seen at Morecambe on the 16th September 1989. Stuart Mackay Collection.
