Class 108 DMU at Worksop

Unknown date

A three-car Class 108 DMU led by DMBS E50626 at Worksop. Date unknown but prior to refurbishment in July 1982. Paul Redmond.

3rd June 1978

A 2-car class 108 with 50626 leading, at Preston as an unidentified 86 enters the station from the north on 3/Jun/1978. Robert Chilton.

15th May 1982

The northbound lunchtime service over the joint line, the the 13.55 Cambridge - Doncaster is seen arriving at March on 15th May 1982 formed of a Derby Works 3 car dmu E50626 + E59384 + E50636 allocated to Leeds Neville Hill. The set was refurbished later in 1982. It was not uncommon to see sets from Neville Hill and even South Gosforth on the joint line trains, although most of the time the Derby Heavyweight Class 114s and Cravens Class 105 sets held sway. In the background behind the Shenfield units can be seen withdrawn LMR DMUs including a Class 104 centre car and a Cravens. Gerard Fletcher.

Class 108 DMU at BREL Doncaster Works

5th June 1988

Set number: BX370

Delivered in December 1958, Class 108 DMBS M53626 is stabled outside the Test House at BREL Doncaster Works on the 5th June 1988 after what was probably it’s last General Overhaul. At the time allocated to Buxton MPD as can be seen by the unit code in the window M53626 would be withdrawn from passenger service in October 1991 and renumbered as ADB977745 in service as a Route Learning / Sandite vehicle until finally withdrawn a year later in October 1992 and scrapped by CF Booth, Rotherham during January 1993. Longsight's class 108 set no. LO282 formed 53626 - 54262 having just arrived at Manchester Victoria on a bright sunny scorching 27 July 1991. Robert Chilton.

Complete with its first class saloon, Derby built Class 108 Driving Trailer Composite Lavatory (DTCL) M56212 (coupled with DMBS M50626), was stabled in the sidings at Llandudno Junction on May 26th 1979. Martyn Hilbert.

Date: 15th May 1982

E50636 + E59384 + E50626 at March on 15th May 1982 with the 13.55 Cambridge - Doncaster. There certainly seem to be plenty of passengers, though whether they are boarding or disembarking is unclear. E50636 had had the two character heacode panel plated over, this was a short term fix and at the next major overhaul it would be rebuilt with a flush front. Gerard Fletcher.
