Brief break at Barton-on-Humber. On 11th March 1978 the Branch Line Society ran the “South Humberside” railtour taking a DMU around some freight lines in the Doncaster area, then on to New Holland Pier then Louth. Here 50632 + 59387 + 59246 + 50643 / 56394 + 50155 are seen at the end of the line at Barton-on-Humber, 11th March 1978, with the sidings not having seen any use for many years. Murray Liston.
Peering over the Humber. On 11th March 1978 the Branch Line Society ran the “South Humberside” railtour taking a DMU around some freight lines in the Doncaster area, then on to New Holland Pier then Louth. The usual scramble to get a photo of the railtour at New Holland Pier. The set was formed of a two car Metro Cammell 101 and 4 car Derby class 108 (E50155 + E56394 and E50643 + E59387 + E59246 + E50632), both in the short lived white / blue stripe livery. Murray Liston.

Just before 7pm, cars E53164 E59246 E53188 (two vehicles with brake vans) call at Middlesbrough with the 18:20 Saltburn - Darlington. E53164, nearest the camera, is receiving attention from a railway worker, was later preserved. The DMU visible to the left is DTS(L) no E54408 at the rear of a service to Saltburn. The use of a power-trailer formation such as this may have also been due to stock shortages, as DMUs in the north-east were generally formed as power-twins by this date, to have any hope of maintaining accelerated schedules intended for Pacers. Graeme Phillips Collection.
Coates and Baggage. This mixed up triple set has plenty of baggage accommodation, with a pair of BRCW Class 110 “Calder Valley” power cars 52077 and 51818 sandwiching a Derby class 108 TBSL 59246 which started life as part of a 4 car set allocated to the NE region. They are seen leaving Great Coates with a Cleethorpes to Barton-upon-Humber service in late 1987. Strangely, some of the original BRCW centre cars were stored at Craigentinny around this time. Murray Liston.

Grinding through Grimsby. A former "Calder Valley" BRCW class 110 DMU grinds round the bend between New Clee and Grimsby Docks stations in the winter of late 1987. E51818 is closest, the centre car is Class 108 TBSL 59246, the rear power car is 52077. Murray Liston.
Not to be confused with Newquay. A 3 car BRCW DMU stops for nobody at New Clee station in the winter of late 1987. The centre car is a Class 108 TBSL. There were only six of these built, at this time one was withdrawn, two were on the ScR and the other three at Neville Hill. Two are recorded as running in Class 110 sets, and this formation is believed to be 51818 + 59246 + 52077. This halt between Cleethorpes and Grimsby was singled in 1985 and the remaining platform is now a request halt for the two-hourly Cleethorpes to Barton-upon-Humber service. Grimsby Town FC's Blundell Park stadium can be seen in the background. Murray Liston.
Class 110 DMBS E51818 in Leeds station. The second vehicle is a Class 108 TBS, 51818 was noted working with 59246 in late 1987/early 1988. Mike Bunker.
Containing two vans this Class 110 DMU has a Class 108 TBS centre car. Seen at York Holgate heading for Sheffield in April 1988, the vehicles are presumably 52077 + 59246 + 51818. George Woods.
Class 110 51830 and 51828 Class 108 trailer 59246 at Kirkstall with the 09.33 Leeds - Morecambe on 13 August 1988. Dave Warby Collection.
Class 110 with a class 108 centre car E52075 + E59246 + E51834 at Settle Junction on the 11th March 1989 on the 12.00 Morecambe-Leeds. Kevin Law.
Seen at Eldroth, between Clapham and Giggleswick on the "Little North Western", is hybrid DMU with two Class 101 DMCs (51526 closest) with Class 108 TBS 59246 as a centre car on its way from Morecambe to Leeds on 28 March 1989. Photographed in tricky conditions with sun on the hills and murk in the valley. Peter Tandy.
Set S803 awaits departure from Scarborough on 09-07-1989. I recorded cars 51522 (closest) + 51458, 53211 + 59246 + 51840 (a 101/108/110 hybrid with two vans) making up the train. A fitter has head under the rear of the second vehicle. Gordon Thomson.
Cleaners stand waiting for this five-car set to stop at Scarborough on 09-07-1989. The front three cars form a hybrid 110/108/101 set (51840 + 59246 + 53211) with 101 set 51458 + 51522 on the rear. Already in the platform is 51184. Gordon Thomson.
With Driving Motor Brake Second (DMBS) 53971 at the rear, a Neville Hill allocated three-car Class 108 DMU was stood on the Up Main alongside Broughton Road Sidings at Skipton during a reversal with a service from Bradford Forster Square on January 5th 1991. All three vehicles have brake vans, the TBSL is probably E59246, the far DMBS is E53943 which carried set number N607, Martyn Hilbert.
