A Darlington - Shildon "Cavalcade 150" Special at Heighington on 31 August 1975. Leading is a Class 108 four-car formed 50633 + 59245 + 59388 + 50644, followed by a four-car Class 101 with 50141 + 59577 visible, and a three-car Class 101 on the rear. Hugh Llewelyn.
One of the DMU shuttles that ran from Darlington to Shildon for the Rail 150 Cavalcade on 31 August 1975. Helpfully, the November 1975 Railway Observer listed the formations of these shuttles and this one can be identified as, left to right, 59388 + 50644, 50141 + 59577 + 59081 + 50189 and 51439 + 59538 + 50143. Stuart Mackay Collection.
Hybrid set 390 (53250 (Class 101) + 59810 (Class 110) + 53644 (Class 108)) heads north out of North Queensferry on April 27th, 1989. Stuart Mackay.
Class 101 Driving Motor Brake Second E53250 was bringing up the rear of a six-car Leeds to Morecambe service at Skipton on May 6th 1989. E53250 was coupled to Class 108 Driving Car E53644. The middle set being a Class 108 with the retro BR green liveried Class 108 53964/54247 at the front of the train. On the extreme left, Class 144 144003 was awaiting departure with a service to Leeds. Martyn Hilbert.
With the houses on Broughton Road as a backdrop, a Class 101/108 hybrid was leading a four-car Morecambe to Leeds service on the approach to Skipton on May 6th 1989. Metro-Cammell Class 101 Driving Motor Brake Second E53250 was leading, presumably paired with 53644, with the other two cars also being Derby Class 108's. Behind the units is the Tilcon siding where the wagons used on the Rylstone quarry workings were repaired/maintained. The siding included a wheel drop facility. Martyn Hilbert.
A six-car DMU formation heading south on the Settle and Carlisle line at Baron Wood, north of Lazonby & Kirkoswald, on 2 August 1989. Closest is a Class 101/108 hybrid, 53250 and presumably 53644, working with two Met-Camm twins. The River Eden can be seen on the left. Stuart Mackay Collection.
Class 116 / 108 hybrid T031 (53827 + 53644) in the bay at Manchester Oxford Rd, having arrived as the 14:00 ex-Warrington Central on the 4th December 1990. Gazza Prescott.
