M51181 leads a two-car Met-Camm DMU on the 6.25pm Coventry-Leamington Spa (Ave) service on 29 April 1962, seen approaching Milverton. Michael Mensing.
In the Manchester Victoria of old, A pair of Metro-Cammell Class 101's, one set in Rail Blue and one in refurbished livery with Driving Motor Brake Second M51181 at the rear, had arrived from Liverpool Lime Street on June 12th 1979. Martyn Hilbert.
An impressive 9 car (at least) DMU formation in the platform at Chester General station on the 6th September 1980. Classes include two Class 101 Met-Camms, a Class 103 Park Royal and at the far end a 3-car BRCW Class 104. Viewed from the Tattoo Venturer, en-route to Edinburgh. Paul James.

A Plymouth Laira allocated Class 101 formed of cars 51530 & 51181 was departing from Starcross with the 16.45 Exmouth to Paignton service on May 31st 1989. The unit was one of several first generation sets drafted into the West Country following the transfer of the Class 142 'Skipper' fleet to the North the previous year. Martyn Hilbert.
