The unusual sight of a Class 117 DMU in Derby station on 24-7-79, set L417 (51354 + 59506 + 51396). Note the 'cut' buffers. It seems to have passengers on board, and is paired with a Class 104. Behind on the same road is a Class 120, and other Class 120 to the right with part of M50731 visible. Ian Cuthbertson Collection.

Class 309 EMUs 309 616 and 309 613 are seen in Watford Junction station on 10 May 1998 with 1A41, the 11.30 Manchester Piccadilly-Euston. Alongside is Class 117 51354 of set L720, possibly on an ECS to Bletchley. At the time it was not uncommon to have them work the last/first trains Sat/Sun during overnight possessions. Dave Warby.
