Class 101 TCL 59528, pictured at Alston sidings, Cheltenham, was one of the first three Met-Camm vehicles transferred to the Western Region in 1967. It spent ten years at Reading and Cardiff before moving on to the LMR. Date is unknown, but as it is between Canton vehicles 50869 and 50922 it should be dated to 1975 - 1977. 50922 on the left has 'Triple' on the vehicle end. Stuart Mackay Collection.

A Swindon Cross Country Class 120 Driving Motor Brake Second (ex Composite downgraded), M53735 was bringing up the rear of a six-car Manchester Victoria to Blackpool North service stood on the Down Slow at Leyland station on December 28th 1985. Running as part of a three car set, the centre trailer car was a Class 101 Metro-Cam M59528, whilst the other leading Class 120 car was M53680. The unit was eventually withdrawn from Newton Heath depot in May 1986. Martyn Hilbert.

Running as part of a three car set, the centre trailer car was a Class 101 Metro-Cam M59528, whilst the other leading Class 120 car was M53680. The unit was eventually withdrawn from Newton Heath depot in May 1986 and scrapped by Berry's of Leicester. The unit is stood on the original low-height North Union Railway stone platform that survived on the Down Slow at Leyland. This platform is believed to be the oldest in the same position along the entire WCML that is still in use. Martyn Hilbert.
A hybrid 3 car DMU, comprising Class 116 driving vehicles and a Class 101 trailer, set T321 (presumably 53854 + 59528 + 53907), heading north towards Hereford at Coedmoor crossing. 27th June 1987. It was unusual to see a Tyseley set south of Hereford. John Crooks.
T321 (53854 closest, 53907 furthest, Met-Camm centre car is probably 59528) heads for Canton Sidings from Cardiff Central after working the 15:30 ex-Hereford on Saturday 18th July 1987. PJ Evans.

Still retaining West Midlands PTE branding on the outer end of the driving car, a Class 116/101 three-car hybrid DMU formed of cars M53872, M59528 & M53862 formed as Newton Heath allocated set N362, was awaiting departure from the staggered platform layout at Hoscar in West Lancashire with a Southport to Manchester Victoria service on May 14th 1988. The set was disbanded soon after this image was recorded, 53872 was withdrawn in June 1988, 59528 lasted in service until July 1988 whilst 53862 survived until October 1988. All three cars were subsequently scrapped by Berry's of Leicester. Martyn Hilbert.
