This class 104/107 3-car hybrid DMU set is seen in at Ardrossan Harbour Winton Pier Station prior to departure with the morning boat train to Glasgow on November 4, 1985. The station only had a sporadic service through the day connecting with ferry sailings to and from the Isle of Arran although the sign on the footbridge reads to the Belfast ferry this route had finished in the 1970's. This 3-car train would form service 1T82 09.35 to Glasgow Central. Adrian Nicholls.

This used to be considered "rare track" as trains only ran here in connection with ferry sailings. Since 2009 there has been an hourly electric service to a new station closer to the town (i.e. further from the ferry). Jeremy Chapter.

Ardrossan Winton Pier station closed in 1987 when Ardrossan Harbour station opened slightly further inland. On 17 April 1979 a Derby-built Class 107 diesel unit stands at the platform adjacent to a sign pointing up the stairway to the "Belfast Ferry". Unfortunately this had ceased in 1976. In 1979, the ferry services from the adjacent pier sailed to Brodick. Jeremy Chapter.

Ayr MPD allocated refurbished Class 101 Set No.172 is seen waiting for departure time in Ardrossan Harbour Station on the 3rd May 1978. Formed of DMBS SC51469 leading, TCL SC59557 intermediate, & DMCL SC51536 trailing she is forming a Boat Train service to Glasgow Central Station.
