No details with this image. It shows two four-car Class 104 sets, possibly on an excursion. The location is believed to be between Grosmont and Goathland, near the Hole of Horcum/Saltersgate, passing a loop which comes to an end on the right. Stuart Mackay Collection.

A six-car Met-Camm formation emerges from Grosmont Tunnel with the 1.20pm Goathland-Whitby service on 1 August 1958. Both sets are former four-car sets reduced to three-cars with the removal of the TSL. E50182 leads - note the number on the lamp bracket under the driver which seems to read 39 - these were common on NER sets at the time - a diagram or set number? The very rear car is E50749. Unit 101339, leading car 51467, arrives at Grosmont en route from Whitby to Middlesbrough. This car was based on the Scottish Region for nearly all of its life, moving to Heaton in April 1988 for 15 months before withdrawal, covering for class 143 unreliability and re-engineering. Note the recently re-aligned track, giving the NYMR room to run longer trains clear of BR tracks. Tony Walmsley.
