A four-car Met-Camm DMU in Manchester Piccadilly with a Hull service on Thursday 5 June 1980. Note the two plates in the position of the two centre marker lights on the closest vehicle, thought to be E50161. David Russon.

Class 101 DMU at York

26th July 1980

Berthed overnight in the 'Harrogate line' bay, platform 13 at York, on 26th July 1980 was this four car Metropolitan-Cammell class 101 DMU set, Nos.50161-59306-59075-50638, adding splendidly to the fumes under the magnificent overall roof. Thankfully the doors were not locked on this unit and one of the trailer cars provided a useful refuge during the quieter moments of my 'all-nighter' at York. Gordon Edgar.

An unusual photo showing a very long formation formed neatly of Class 101 & 108 vehicles all carrying the short lived refurbishment livery. The occasion was a schools special from Scarborough to Chester returning through Helsby, 9/7/76. The 8-car formation was 50169/59306/59075/50161, 56191/50619 & 51230/56369. Anthony Griffiths.
