A hybrid dmu formation with a class 100 DMBS, M50343, at the rear leaves platform 1 at Birmingham New Street heading for Kidderminster. 50343 was based at Tyseley from May 1975 until withdrawal in September 1981 having previously been based in Scotland. This photo was probably taken around 1980. The two Class 101 cars in the formation are presumably M59124 + M50332. Tony Walmsley.

A class 100 D.M.U. at New Mills Central, most probably 1980 or 1981. Arnie Furniss adds - That's the tail lamp from the inbound working. The driver has changed ends in the tunnel that was the sole remnant of the Hayfield branch and has brought the train into the platform for the return working to Manchester. The guard will now place the tail lamp at the other end as it's easier than doing it in the tunnel! Curly42.

Condemned stock at Ely on 9th January. Here the line includes a Class 100 DMU and an LMS design sleeper. I was waiting for the Cambridge Lincoln Doncaster DMU. I really knew the classy ways twixt Ely and Durham. You could almost go the whole way in a DMU, front seats, blinds up. Robert Forsythe.

A tidy looking Gloucester Class 100 Driving Motor Brake Second E51124 was stood in the bay platform at Ipswich, having arrived at the rear of a service from Lowestoft on April 27th 1980. Its partner is a Class 105 DTC, and there is blue/grey set behind. Martyn Hilbert.
For the Rocket 150 celebrations in 1980 a three day cavalcade was held along the historic Liverpool & Manchester route between Bold Colliery and Rainhill station on May 24-26th 1980, when a procession of locomotives and rolling stock, entertained the crowds. To get the punters to and from Rainhill a motley collection of DMU sets was drafted in to form shuttle services from Manchester Victoria. Ignored by many in favour of the more exotic motive power on offer that day, a six-car lash up comprising of a Class 100 (DMBS M50350 leading), a Class 104 and a Class 108, was approaching Rainhill with another load of eager and expectant punters. Tyseley DMU set TS411 arrives into Warwick station on Tuesday 27 May 1980, Birmingham (Moor Street) on the destination blind. It is formed of Class 100 DMBS 50343 and two Met-Camm vehicles, presumably 59124 + 50332. David Russon.
