A class 100 D.M.U. at New Mills Central, most probably 1980 or 1981. Arnie Furniss adds - That's the tail lamp from the inbound working. The driver has changed ends in the tunnel that was the sole remnant of the Hayfield branch and has brought the train into the platform for the return working to Manchester. The guard will now place the tail lamp at the other end as it's easier than doing it in the tunnel! Curly42.
Condemned stock at Ely on 9th January. Here the line includes a Class 100 DMU and an LMS design sleeper. I was waiting for the Cambridge Lincoln Doncaster DMU. I really knew the classy ways twixt Ely and Durham. You could almost go the whole way in a DMU, front seats, blinds up. Robert Forsythe.

Since 1970, Rose Hill (or Rose Hill Marple) has been a terminal station on a short branch line. An unidentified Class 100 dmu pair stands at the remaining usable platform on October 9, 1980. Jeremy Chapter.

With Tyseley in Birmingham and Manchester Longsight Depot having small allocations of the remaining class 100 DMU vehicles by 1981 it was somewhat surprising to see this hybrid set formed of a class 100 DMBS and a class 101 DMC or DTC coupled behind the more usual class 120 "Swindon cross country" set on the Central Wales line. The train is departing north from Llandrindod Wells with the 10.10 Swansea to Shrewsbury on Friday 29/05/81. Adrian Nicholls.
