A Class 100 DMU in Chester station, May 1981. This cab front (presumably 56105) appears to feature an unusual headlight arrangement, with the headcodes having been plated over and replaced by two central cut-outs - usually, replacement headlights were positioned above the buffers. High up in the Pennines, a Gloucester Class 100 Twin comprising Driving Trailer Composite (downgraded to Driving Trailer 2nd) M56109 and Motor Brake 2nd M50354 await departure from platform 3 at Stalybridge with the 11:45 service to Stockport. Saturday 9th March 1983. Having grown up with Gloucester twins in eastern Scotland, I was always glad to renew my acquaintance with the type though I have to admit I regarded them with some disdain when they were everyday fare. Gloucester Class 100 Driving Trailer Composite M56111 stabled with various other items of rolling stock, including two more redundant Class 100 vehicles, at Longsight TMD on June 18th 1978. After BR use, M56111 became an instruction coach on the Ministry of Defence railway system at Moreton-On-Lugg. It was eventually scrapped in 1985. Alongside is the Longsight Overhead Line Maintenance Train, with two former LMS vintage coaches visible. Martyn Hilbert.
