A close-up of West Yorkshire PTE's MetroTrain logo (below the first class compartment of a Class 101 or 111 DMC(L) vehicle) on 14/02/1987, as applied to most DMU driving cars of classes 101, 108, 110 and 111 in blue & grey livery allocated to Neville Hill during much of the 1980s (though I suspect it was not applied so much to new transfers later in the decade). It was also carried by the Class 141s in their green and white livery, and at least some of the Class 144s on their red and white livery when first delivered, though was quickly changed to the later block capitals version. Class 101 Southall March 1987. I was living in nearby Heston at the time and popped up one Saturday afternoon to take some shots at the station. Perhaps less common to see only a twin set working here? Alistair Ness.

This picture was taken at Great Bridge on 17 June 1987 in weather more suitable for November. There was nothing pleasant in any respect about the area around Great Bridge even though I do like the industrial scenery, but in these conditions it was really nasty. 47564 is seen here dragging three Class 101 DMU vehicles (looks like three brakes) to Gloucester past the semaphore signal controlled by Eagle Crossing box. There is some evidence of activity in the adjacent yard, but at this time it was quite rare to see any movement here. Peter Tandy.
