Class 101 DMU set 220 (SC50159 + SC59080 + SC50194) in Stirling station on Monday 18 June 1979. Dunblane is on the destination blind, yet it is in one of the bay platforms (platform 7) at the south end of the station. David Russon.

A few passengers make their way across the footbridge at Markinch as class 101 set 221 forming 2G75 15.22 Dundee to Edinburgh prepares to depart on 3rd April 1980. The leading vehicle is Sc50269 a former composite vehicle though by this time first class accommodation has been withdrawn on this service. Bruce Galloway.

A Class 101 DMU passes though Princes Street Gardens, the tail lamp suggest its heading away from the camera and away from Edinburgh Waverley, on 1 December 1973. The set number in the middle window seems to read 222. Stuart Mackay Collection.

Amid the gloom of a late autumn evening at Dundee Tay Bridge station, Gateshead's generator 47412 has arrived with 1E26 16:30 Aberdeen to Leeds. In the bay platforms to the left, Haymarket's class 101 204 has just arrived with 2L52 16:23 from Edinburgh as 101 222 waits to leave with 2P15 18:10 to Perth. Set 204 has had it's number taped over, and 222 also looks as if it's been altered. Bruce Galloway.

Metro-Cammell 3 car set 222 arrives at Markinch on 29th November 1980 with 2L32, the 0925 Edinburgh to Dundee stopping service. Behind the unit can be seen A4 60009 'Union of South Africa' which would be trialled in the yard prior to working an excursion. Bruce Galloway.

Met-Camm set 223 Dundee at 1346 on Saturday 7th April 1979 - note the window bars on the DMC passenger doors and lack of destination blind - a recent transfer from the Newcastle area? Not sure why the DMU should be running as the terminating service from Edinburgh is due in at 1352... could be early as the red tail light is still illuminated and the station clock may be a little slow? A Dundee based Metro-Cammell trailer-brake Class 101 unit - set 223 - tops the summit at Lochmuir in Fife with 2G54 1220 Dundee to Edinburgh service on 9th January 1981. The set is framed by the sad remnants of the NB box and the up home post; the down loop was also lifted and only some rails remain. Bruce Galloway.

The set number is covered over under the drivers window but it still carries the old style number in the opposite cab window.
