A six-car Met-Camm formation emerges from Grosmont Tunnel with the 1.20pm Goathland-Whitby service on 1 August 1958. Both sets are former four-car sets reduced to three-cars with the removal of the TSL. E50182 leads - note the number on the lamp bracket under the driver which seems to read 39 - these were common on NER sets at the time - a diagram or set number? The very rear car is E50749. Class 101 Driving Motor Brake Second E53250 was bringing up the rear of a six-car Leeds to Morecambe service at Skipton on May 6th 1989. E53250 was coupled to Class 108 Driving Car E53644. The middle set being a Class 108 with the retro BR green liveried Class 108 53964/54247 at the front of the train. On the extreme left, Class 144 144003 was awaiting departure with a service to Leeds. Martyn Hilbert.

Call me a Yellow Cab! This pleasant view of Kings Norton station, circa 1969, has a good view of the WH Smith newspaper stall, a gas lamp and a milepost. The scene looks timeless with the semaphore signals, gas lamp with wire to adjust the flame, train crew with the driver (seated) wearing his grease-top and enamel signs. The Metro-Cammell DMU, although with small yellow warning panels is in the early blue livery. This is the centre (now disused) platform at Kings Norton and the date would be 1966/67. Geoff Dowling.
