Two-car Class 101 set 803 departs Whitland station, the process date is June 1982. The Pembroke Dock branch can be seen on the left. This is presumably set C803 formed of 51450 and 51522 transferred from Bristol to Cardiff on 16 May and has had the B prefix removed from the set number. Stuart Mackay Collection.

A gathering of first & second generation DMU's at Southport on July 31st 1988. Left to right are - Derby Class 108 formed of cars 53978 & 54261, Class 142 142047, Metro-Cammell Class 101 formed of cars 51801 & 51519, whilst in the background former Devon & Cornwall 'Skipper' Class 142 142027 was providing a shuttle service between Southport station and the Steamport Museum during a Diesel Day event. Mechanical DMUs were becoming a bit uncommon in the Shrewsbury area by mid-1987 so I was pleased to take this picture of class 101, set 809 (presumably 53335 + 53319) leaving the town at Sutton Bridge Junction with a Crewe to Swansea service on 25th May of that year. In 2021 most of the semaphore signals survive but the bracket on the right has lost its low-speed arm controlling the entrance to the down loop as the track was lifted some time ago. Peter Tandy.

A Class 101 DMU formation is seen boarding platform 1 at Doncaster with a service to Cambridge in the early/mid-1970s. The leading vehicle is Class 101/1 DMC(L) no. E50750, which was allocated to Norwich Thorpe depot (coded 32A then NR) between August 1972 and October 1975, so this is the likely time period for this image. Graeme Phillips Collection.
