A class 101/116 hybrid set T036 formed of 53245 + 53054 was pictured descending Hatton Bank forming the 14.12 Stratford-upon-Avon to Leamington service in place of the usual single or double class 122 set. The Down Goods Loop was very rarely used at this time as there was plenty of time between local trains, the only passenger services on the line at the time, for the frequent freight workings. Peter Tandy.

On your marks... Two different DMU sets with 3 classes of vehicle at Stratford-upon-Avon on 26 September 1990. Class 101/116 hybrid set T038 (51808 + 53838) is in platform 1 forming the 15.26 departure to Birmingham Moor Street while class 114 T025 (53005 + 54039) was on a Leamington Spa service, from memory the 16.12 from Stratford. This picture was taken after the signalling arrangements had been changed to allow arrivals and departures from any of the 3 platforms. This removed the need for shunting every arrival from platform 1 to either 2 or 3 with a new upper quadrant starting signal being provided for trains leaving platform 2, the taller signal on the right being redesignated as the starter for platform 1. Peter Tandy.

It was common at this time for a locomotive to be stabled here for weekend engineering work. Peter Tandy.

Hybrid class 101/116 DMU set T041 (53268+53090) is seen waiting time at Ironbridge Gorge with the 17.45 to Birmingham New Street. The temporary station was located at the 161 mile 20 chain mark just south of Coalbrookdale Viaduct on the Madeley Junction to Ironbridge Power Station freight line. It came into use on 30/6/1987 and closed on 3/9/1990. It made one appearance in the BR all line timetable in the summer 1990 edition (table 74). There were two return journeys on Sundays only between 29th July and 2nd September 1990. Prior to that it was an unadvertised service sponsored by the local authority and Ironbridge Gorge Trust. The method of working seeing as the branch was still twin track back then was for passenger trains to run to Ironbridge Power Station Reception Lines first to reverse then gain the up line where the platform was located. Adrian Nicholls.

Hybrid Class 101/116 DMU set T052 (53177 + 53060) in Lincoln Central station on 26-5-1992. John Law.
Tyseley's set T052 formed as a hybrid with class 101 53321 and out of sight class 116 53060, at Derby on 17/Jul/1992. 53321 still has it's former Norwich set number 104 and there is a patch between the centre and second man's cab windows where there was previously a mounting for an East Suffolk line RETB aerial. Robert Chilton.
