The embankment of the M42 nearby Water Orton is the location of this picture of class 101 T216 (51206 + 54054) leading a 3 car suburban set away from Birmingham towards Derby. The working, on 21 May 1988, appeared to be an ECS move probably from Tyseley to Etches park. Peter Tandy.
This picture was taken from the window of Stratford-upon-Avon East signalbox on 29 July 1988 and shows class 101 set T217 (54358 and presumably 51798) leaving Stratford station with the 08.12 to Leamington Spa on 29 July 1988. An old Norwich set number "85" is in the cab window as was an alternative version of the current one. Unit vehicle 51798 was shown at Tyseley only for a brief period in 1988 so it was probably a short-term loan to cover a temporary shortage of units in the West Midlands. Peter Tandy.

Set TS201 (54361 + 51910) at Tyseley on May 3, 1986. Class 116 DMBS M53078 is on the right. Andy Cole.
Given the number of trains on the Birmingham Cross City Line and the reliability problems being suffered by Tyseley depot it is hardly surprising that quite a few mixed-up sets were around. Tyseley three-car Class 101 set TS400 (50320 and presumably 59130 + 50330) at Newport in mid-1982, with Bristol Temple Meads on the destination blind. The DMBS still has its roof vents, the other have had most removed. Michael Mensing.
Despite what the destination blind says, Met-Cam class 101 DMU, set TS400 is approaching Stoke Edith Open Level Crossing from the Hereford direction on its way to Ledbury, Worcester and beyond. The redundant line is still in place at this point, although it is doubtful the sleeper chained across the top of the rail would seriously stop any wagon from ending up in the road. 30th March 1985. John Crooks.
With evidence of track recovery alongside, Met-Cam class 101 DMU, set TS400 approaches Stoke Edith Open Level Crossing, as it was then, on the recently singled line between Ledbury and Hereford, this units final destination. 30th March 1985. John Crooks.
