101 335 (a 101/101/107 hybrid) pauses at Paisley Canal for one of the last scheduled services to Kilmacolm before the line closed on 8th Jan 1983. The land around the signal box in this photo was sold in undue haste for housing development and although the line reopened as a single track spur to Paisley Canal it is highly unlikely that it will ever reopen as the important through line it once was. DMBS Sc 51466 of set 101 338 at Eastfield Depot on 29/8/83, the day after colliding with a van that was allowed to roll away and drop 40 feet into the cutting near Eastfield shed where it was hit by the 20.58 Falkirk Grahamston to Glasgow Queen St service driven by Peter 'Diesel Pete' McQuade who promptly protected the opposite line preventing further disaster. The damaged front has been cut away in preparation for repairs to start on Sc 51466 at Eastfield Depot, this really was a job for the Workshops but in an effort to manage costs and see what a depot could do Eastfield undertook the repair themselves, it took several months but a very good job was done and the staff were rightly proud of this. 2 stripped out Class 101 TCL vehicles are stacked in Vic Berry's yard in Leicester along with a withdrawn Mark 1 Sleeping Car on the 5th June 1988. In the foreground is Class 101 TCL SC59568 in blue / grey livery formerly of Eastfield TMD Glasgow, and latterly the centre vehicle in set 101338, while sitting on top of it is TCL SC59560 in Strathclyde orange / black livery formerly of Ayr MPD and latterly the centre vehicle in set 107440.
