Met-Camm DMU set 101355 (53245 closest) departs from Edinburgh Waverley in 10 August 1988. Stuart Mackay Collection.
Met-Camm DMBS 51174 on the end of set 101355 seen in Dunbar station circa late summer 1989. Brian Ward.
101355 (51174, 59104 and 53245) arrives at Glasgow Central on the 2nd June 1989. Nicholas Youngman.
Neville Hill allocated 51174 still carries its former ScR set number 101355 when seen in York station in November 1989 alongside 156 469. George Woods.
Unit 101355, leading car 51174, is seen stabled in one of the centre roads in Sheffield in 1990. This car was allocated to Neville Hill between October 1989 and its withdrawal in September 1990. The unit number relates to its former Scottish Region allocation, though 51174 was originally an LMR vehicle. Tony Walmsley.
A Class 101 DMU at Neville Hill on 22/4/90. Formed of two DMBSs, the closest is 51174 which had been transferred from Haymarket to NL in October 1989. It still carries its HA set number 101355. Rex Holt.
Set 101 356 (53253 leading 59696(cl.110) and 51210) is seen in Princes Street Gardens, Edinburgh, at 17.56 on 26/6/89. The set is returning e.c.s from Cowdenbeath, having worked the 16.15 Edinburgh - Cowdenbeath, and will now form the 18.00 Edinburgh Waverley - Dunbar. Leonard Rogers.
On an overcast July 24th 1981, a three-car Metro-Cam Class 101 DMU formed of cars SC50160, SC59074 & SC50158 was stood at Markinch whilst forming a Edinburgh Waverley service. Markinch station was still furnished with British Railways 1950's Scottish Region light blue enamel signage including Totems on some of the lamp posts. Driving Motor Brake Second SC50160 eventually went on to carry Strathclyde orange livery, and a subsequent transfer to Chester and then Longsight in the early 1990's. The car found fame and fortune when it was repainted in retro BR green for its final years of operation, and has subsequently passed into preservation. Martyn Hilbert.
Class 101 Falkirk Grahamston 1984. Reflections of a bygone era. I'm sure someone must have stolen the BRUTE trolley from another station. Somehow it doesn't fit into the scene here. The Met-Camm is TBSL set 101360, the closest vehicle appears to be 53192. Alistair Ness.
101 360 at Stirling circa 1984. The BR logo on the closest power car - SC53192 - appears to be silver rather than white. The other two vehicles are presumably 59074 + 53158. Andrew McConnell.
Two Class 101s at Stranraer, with 101360 (presumably 53158 + 59074 + 53160) closest. The slide process date was August 1985. Stuart Mackay Collection.
Met-Camm set 101 360 (presumably 53158 closest) in Largs station in 1986, just prior to electrification. John Law.
A trio at Ardeer. The electrification masts are just waiting for the knitting as 101360 (presumably 53158 + 59074 being the first two vehicles) on a Glasgow Central to Ardrossan working (I think) passes 26031 and rather cleaner sister loco shunting ballast stock at Ardeer near Stevenston. The ICI Nobel Ardeer facility is off to right with one of the works shunters (poss Paxman 7825 of 1958) visible. Most of the site has now been cleared except for a small section operated by Chemring. 7th June 1986. Bruce Galloway.
A Class 101 DMU arrives into Glasgow Central station on 6 August 1986. Labelled 101360 it is presumably 53158 leading. Andrew Malloy.
SC53158 at the front of 101360 in Glasgow Central station circa 1987. The TBS should be 59074. Andrew McConnell.
Class 101 Trailer Brake set 101360 in Edinburgh Waverley, the slide process date was May 1987. 53158 appears to be the closest vehicle, the other two are presumably 59074 and 53160. Stuart Mackay Collection.
Burnt (island) Jaffa Cakes. Strathclyde PTE "Jaffa Cake" liveried Met Camm set 101360 (presumably 53158 closest) leaves Burntisland with an Edinburgh bound working in August 1987. Murray Liston.
Class 101 DMU set 101360 (presumably 53158 closest) at Burntisland in August 1987. By this time it was a case of "anything goes" on Fife Circle workings so SPT orange livery was not that unusual. Alistair Ness.
Met-Camm trailer brake DMU set 101 360 seen in Haymarket station, date unknown. Mike Bunker.
The 11.23 from Haymarket via Shotts is seen arriving at Glasgow Central at 12.57 on 11/7/89. Set 101 360 (53160/59074/53158) has 53158 trailing. In Summer 1989 the south tunnel at Haymarket was closed for electrification works, preventing access to Waverley from the Slateford direction, so the Glasgow Central services were terminating at, and starting from, Haymarket. Leonard Rogers.
