A Class 101/108 Hybrid Two-Car DMU formed of cars M54052 & M51910 was departing from Croston with a Preston to Ormskirk service on September 28th 1985. Martyn Hilbert.
A two-car Class 101/108 DMU with Driving Trailer Second Lavatory (DTSL) M54052 leading, presumably with 51910, was accelerating away from the single line token exchange at Midge Hall, whilst working a Preston to Ormskirk service on September 29th 1985. The home signal on the Down Line, controlled from the 'box at Midge Hall, is the only semaphore still extant in the Preston area. Martyn Hilbert.
Class 101 54052 is seen at Tyseley unusually coupled to Parcels car 55985 on 03.05.1986. These Parcels cars usually travelled in semi-permanent pairs. Andy Cole.

On 02/06/1983, Class 101 cars E56054 E51219 E51247 E54406 stand in sidings within Darlington station. The vehicle nearest the camera still carries its original 56xxx number, but would be renumbered to 54xxx during 1983 as has already happened with the far vehicle and with most others in the series that year. It is also highly unlikely that the front saloon was still being used as first class accommodation by this date. Graeme Phillips Collection.

Class 101 DTC 54055 at Norwich. This unit clearly shows it’s blanked top cab marker light position, and also has the LMR brake-pipe layout- this original ER allocated car was among four 2-car sets exchanged with the LMR during the early 1960s, the ER getting the four early Rolls-Royce power trailer sets. 54055 did not return to the ER until the late 1980s, later becoming part of 101662.
