At Cornard is Cambridge set 03 (54382 + 51438), taken in the late '80s. David Underwood.
A view of Colchester depot late in the afternoon of 22nd April 1989. On the left is Met Camm DMU 54382 + 51438 in which we had earlier travelled to Sudbury, and beyond is a class 312 EMU. On the right are two ex-steam loco tenders converted to snowploughs in the early 1960s ADE330968 and 330977 which lasted another decade or so before being cut up on site here as the last of their type to survive on the network. A Class 101 2-car set with E54383 leading (recently renumbered from E56383) waits under the NER footbridge at Cottingham with a service from Bridlington to Hull on 29th July 1983. On the left, a Class 108 set departs for Beverley. Cottingham station has changed little since this photo was taken; the old footbridge still creaks under the weight of passing feet, but the 1st generation DMUs which served the line for 30-odd years are long gone. The feather on the signal is for the curve to join the East Coast Main line towards Newcastle, and the point work diverging to the left in the distance is the chord to the East Coast Main Line towards Morpeth."
