A loose 103 DTC and a 108 on Chester depot on 11 July 1971. Chester on certain Sundays in 1971 was a much more interesting place than usual as when the WCML between Acton Grange and Crewe was closed through trains from the North and Liverpool to Euston and Liverpool Cross Country services were diverted via Chester. This involved arriving through the station and running past the depot onto the Hooton line, then reversing round the curve onto the North Wales line, before setting off forward again round the curve to the station. Class 50 D426 is on the first leg on this operation on the 1P31 Euston to Carlisle service. The KDH Archive.

The Park Royal DMU on the 11.20 from Aberystwyth has the signal cleared and will leave Towyn once the driver has finished his conversation... Taken sometime in 1972. On the other platform, the ticket office has received a new Univers sign, but those indicating the Waiting Room and the Ladies Waiting Room are still in traditional form. Tom Burnham.

Heading east along the North Wales coast at Old Colwyn on 6th June 1973 is a 4 car dmu formation, with the first set a Park Royal class 103 set, the second a Met-Camm class 101. With Colwyn Bay behind this view is very much changed with the A55 duel carriage expressway cutting through the fields in the foreground and through the houses on the left. Andrew J Crowther.
