Ayr Variety. Platform 11 at Glasgow Central High Level with motley six car DMU departing for the Ayrshire coast. An old note book suggests the leading BRCW Triple is M53473 DMBSL (White Stripe) + Sc59789 (107 TSL) + M53525 DMCL (White Stripe and yellow First Class cantrail stripe) as seen at Central on 19/01/1984. The rear lash up is probably MC DMB E53207 + BRCW DMC M53510 + MC DMS E54088, previously seen at Ayr. Three manufacturers / vehicle types, all blue, blue with white stripe, blue - grey ... and 'first class'. Variety, indeed! A rotten photograph, but then again, possibly a rotten journey for commuters in vehicles past their best. Friday 27 January 1984. alicia hartman.

Class 104 Edinburgh Waverley June 1984. A BRCW DMU awaits departure. Haymarket depot was unique in having some of their older stock of Cravens and BRCW units repainted from Rail Blue into Blue and Grey as they kept them in service for much longer than other parts of the country. Many of these areas had reverted to loco hauled stock and at least our Dundee workings retained locos and coaches. Alistair Ness.
