Car 51288, new to Cambridge in 1958 is seen with trailer 56442 at New Holland Pier on 13 June 1981 waiting to depart for Cleethorpes. After transfer to Lincoln depot in 1964 this car did not move depots again until withdrawn in September 1984. The trailer lasted until 1986. The station was closed from 24 June 1981 after opening of the Humber Bridge, withdrawal of the ferry service from Hull and diversion of the train service directly to Barton on Humber. Jeremy Chapter.

An eight-car DMU formation at Heysham Moss sometime in 1981, noted as an ex-Nelson to Heysham working (Rochdale is on the destination blind. Leading is a 105/104/105 - closest appears to be 50794 so its partners are presumably 59207 + 50761. The next three-car appears to be a 108 with two white-stripe 104s, then an unidentified two-car on the rear. Update: This is now thought to be 50794 + 59207 + M50761 / 50944 + 59178 + 50531 / 50499 + 50468 which would return with the 1P90 12:15 Heysham Harbour-Accrington relief on 5th July 1981, see https://www.flickr.com/photos/psrp/50894325502/. For that working see image 30023 on this website. Stuart Mackay Collection.

On July 9th 1981, the 10.58 Dunblane - Edinburgh dmu arrives at Falkirk Grahamston. This is my only picture of a Cravens car in blue/grey livery. 51479 is marshalled in a 3 car set with two Metro-Cammell vehicles, the rear one is SC50748 but I have no record of the centre car. The Cravens car was withdrawn in November 1981 and has already lost its destination blind. It is showing set number 375 which has later been prefixed with 105. It spent all its 22 years in service in Scotland. Gerard Fletcher.

In blue/grey livery, Cravens Class 105 Driving Motor Brake Second (DMBS) SC51481, was passing through North Queensferry with a six-car mixed rake of DMU cars, bound for Edinburgh on July 23rd 1981. The Cravens is formed into Haymarket set 105376, the other vehicles being Metro-Cammell Class 101 cars. Presumably, the Cravens had been finished in blue/grey to match the rest of the three-car set. SC51481 spent its entire working life in Scotland, it was one of a batch of twenty-two x 2 car Power/Trailer sets supplied new in 1959. It would eventually be withdrawn from service in November 1981 and was scrapped by Mayer Newman at Snailwell, Cambridgeshire in 1982. Martyn Hilbert.
