Norwich Crown Point Depot provided an open day on 30th May 1987 and had on display the heritage Cravens Class 105 DMU 53359-54122. Other exhibits were also brought to Norfolk, including the 2-BIL unit 2090 and Railfreight liveried 58020, both seen in the photograph. Gordon Edgar.
1st June 1987
Departmental DMU set ADB977125 ADB977123 accelerate away from Mexborough East Junction while working a drivers route learning special in conjunction with the then newly opened Holmes chord and Rotherham Central station on June 1, 1987. The new line had come into use on a few weeks earlier on 11th May 1987 but passenger crews were still being trained for the new route which no longer passed through Rotherham Masborough station which wasn't ideally situated for the town. Cravens route-learning set 977123 and 977125, allocated at the time to Lincoln, they made regular visits to Ipswich. They are seen here in the 'East-Suffolk' bay at Ipswich Station on 22/9/87 no doubt about to set off down the East Suffolk Line to Lowestoft. AndrewHA.

Class 105 E53364 at Liverpool Street. After withdrawal from revenue earning service, some class 105's were transferred to the parcels sector. This unit is seen at Liverpool Street - but it's nothing like the Liverpool Street of today. I'm fairly certain it was taken one of those 'Ian Allan' Network Days. Looking at the adjacent negatives it must have been October 1987. Stuart Pearce.

One of the last 'Cravens' DMU's (54122 + 53359)was repainted into BR Green for its final months in service, and it is seen here at Sudbury on October 1987. I should say that this was taken with the knowledge and permission of the railway staff present. Stuart Pearce.
