Wednesday would usually be my day off from work around the time this photograph was taken, so quite often I would buy an Anglia Day Ranger ticket and do a circular tour from March or King's Lynn. This was the case on 5/3/80 when this was the scene alongside Ipswich station at 11.25 that morning. Set 63 with Felixstowe on the blinds comprised E56432 with power car E51268 at the rear. The most interesting aspect of this shot though, are the two dmu cars in the background. Set 70 has obviously had some incident befall it, as Gloucester RCW Class 100 power car E51127 has been separated from its partner Cravens Class 105 trailer E56134. Some of the Gloucester RCW units had charmed lives and E51127 had already survived being withdrawn in 1972 and stored in 1974 on its native Scottish Region, before being sent down to Norwich in May 1975. It lasted here until October 1980 when it was dispatched to the LMR ending up at Tyseley and finally Newton Heath from where it was retired in Dec. 82. Gerard Fletcher.
Class 105 set 72 (56433 + 50379) on the Cambridge to Skegness `GN/GE Joint Farewell` charter at French Drove on 27.11.82. This was organised by the Fakenham and Dereham Railway Society charter for the last day of the March to Spalding section of the Joint Line. Phil Bevan.

Cravens Class 105 DMU set 66 led by 56435 arrives at Norwich on Saturday 15 October 1977 with either the 14.35 Lowestoft to Norwich, or the 14.52 Yarmouth to Norwich. Rob Paterson.
Stabled at Norwich MPD on Friday the 23rd June 1978 is Class 105 DTCL 56435, half of Norwich Set No.69. I believe from my records that the vehicle behind is the other half of Set No.69 Class 100 DMBS 51120. Interestingly 51120 was withdrawn just 6 days after this image was taken on the 29th June 1978 being scrapped at Mayer Newman, Snailwell during May 1981. 56435 would continue in service for almost another 6 years however being withdrawn in May 1984 before following 51120 through the firing tunnel at Snailwell in October 1984. Bob Woolnough.
Cravens DMU set 49 (E56436 + E50365) head through the fens north of Postland GN & GE with a Cambridge to Doncaster passenger service on 02.05.77. Phil Bevan.
Running 'wrong line' at Saxmundham after a snow shower on Wednesday February 8th 1978 is Norwich based Cravens twin set no. 54 (E56436 + E51254) forming the 10.50 Lowestoft - Ipswich. Still retaining the twin headcode boxes, this original style of front end was rapidly disappearing by 1978 as cars went through Doncaster Works, reappearing with flush fronts. Probably not bound for Hull, despite the destination blind, this is a Cravens dmu in the bay at the south end of Doncaster station in May 1980. The leading car is no. 56438. Andrew Walker.

Evening at Spalding Town. A Cravens diesel multiple unit (the vehicles are thought to be E56439 + E50249) stands at Spalding station on the evening of Saturday 24th April 1976. I would have taken this photo whilst waiting to board the return day excursion train I had travelled on from Bristol. Tom Harper.
