The low winter sun highlights the puddles at March as the 10.26 Doncaster - Cambridge service pulls in off the joint line from Spalding. Cravens Class 105 E56454 + E51284 was one of nine sets of its type allocated to Lincoln depot often used on these long distance stopping trains. Canonbury station on 14 March 1982. A Cravens Class 105 2-car unit (56455/50362) is just leaving working the 09.00 North Woolwich-Camden Town. I had just alighted from the dmu, having boarded at Stratford. My next train would be a Class 501 emu to take me to Broad Street. Note the poster advertising tickets to Larne for £32 or Belfast for £35. In 2021 Canonbury has 4 platforms, with regular London Overground services on both the North London Line and the East London Line, provided by Class 378 emus. Lewis Bevan.
Coupled to a Derby built Class 108 Driving Motor Brake Second in blue & grey livery, former Eastern Region Cravens Class 105 Driving Trailer M54456 was still in rail blue at Croston on August 13th 1983. The odd couple were working the 16.15 Ormskirk to Preston service. The downgrading of the former main line from Preston to Ormskirk is evident with the abandoned platform on this once double track railway. M54456 survived the cull of these once numerous DMUs and is now on the Llangollen Railway. Martyn Hilbert.

E54458 at Peterborough on March 15th, 1986. This one took us by surprise. Most of the time the Doncaster - Lincoln - Peterborough dmu services were operated by the Derby Heavyweight Class 114 units, but here one of Lincoln's Class 105s arrives instead. Photo by Phil Mott. Gerard Fletcher.
