A Cravens DMU comprising vehicles SC56463 + SC51474 (Hamilton set 35) is seen in Midcalder station on Saturday 15 February 1969. Where is it going? It is in the Edinburgh platform but with Glasgow on the destination blind. There is no tail lamp - or driver - at this end... Stuart Mackay Collection.

Even in 1986 some of the cross country services from Cambridge to Birmingham were still formed of classic dmus. On March 15 1M66, the 08.52 ex Cambridge, is seen here arriving at Whittlesea with a four car formation of Cravens set 49 (E54463 + E51271) leading a 2 car Metro-Cammell Class 101. At Peterborough set 49 makes a healthy exhaust as it departs for Birmingham - you can almost hear that great Cravens cacophany. Cravens DMU set 49, E54463 and presumably E51271, is seen with a Yarmouth service in at Trowse station on 30 March 1986. Trowse was closed in 1939 but re-opened in March 1986 as the line's northern terminus when Norwich station was closed for electrification works. Stuart Mackay Collection.
