107436 (52024 and presumably 59784 + 51997) in Ayr station in June 1985. Behind is another Strathclyde liveried Class 107, and to its left a Blue/Grey Class 104, the latch patch of missing paint on the cab probably identifies it as 53505. Stuart Mackay Collection.

A class 107 d.m.u. formimg a Glasgow to Ardrossan Harbour or Largs train passes Stevenston No. 1 signal box in the immediate pre-electrification period - July 1985. This was an LMS built signal box, opened in June 1947, closed by British Rail in September 1986 upon completion of the Ayrshire electrification project. A year before electrification, a 6 car class 107 dmu departs Troon with a Stranraer - Glasgow Central service on 25-08-1985. 107444 (presumably 52005 + 59804 + 52031) is on the rear, the front set has a Met-Camm centre car.
