Derby Heavyweight Set 140 pulls away from a rural Houston and Crosslee station on a Kilmacolm working from Glasgow Central. The nearby town of Linwood, developed as post war overspill for Glasgow and Paisley along with the Rootes Car Factory, was poorly situated despite its proximity. The passengers here seem to be heading for nearby Brookfield to the south, accessed by a parallel footpath (to the left of the photograph) and footbridge well beyond the station. The villages of Houston and Crosslee were somewhat remote from the station and were over a mile away to the north. Note the 'running in board' rusting away on the left and the line of cast iron lamp posts - probably gas lights in a previous age! January 1981. alicia hartman.
A Class 107 DMU in Edinburgh Waverly on 4 February 1978, it has presumably arrived from Glasgow Central via Shotts. The set number in the cab window seems to read 141 with the vehicle believed to be 52021. Rob Paterson.
Two Class 107 DMU sets seen in Girvan station circa early 1970s. The closest car has set number 142 on what seems to be a traffolyte plaque that is either riveted or screwed on. It also still has a cab handrail that acts as a drain for the gutter, a cracked lens on the left marker lamp - both of which need a good clean, and two headcode blinds that need sorting. The working is likely a Glasgow-Stranraer service, unusual for 107s. Stuart Mackay Collection.
Class 107 set 143 (with probably 51997 closest) in Glasgow Central station in 1978. John Law.
Class 107 set 143 enters Bellshill with the 11:00 Glasgow Central - Edinburgh on the 15th December 1978. Hamish Stevenson.
Instamatic Interludes. Having arrived with the 14.07 ex Central, Derby Class 107 triple waits quietly at Kilmacolm to form the return 15.09 to Glasgow Central. Set 143 is displayed in the non-drivers window of the DMC. Saturday 04 August 1979. alicia hartman.

A three-car Scottish Region Class 107 DMU (set 148) had arrived in bay platform 7 at Carlisle with a service from Kilmarnock on March 25th 1979. Only one vehicle number was captured - SC52028 at the far end, but the other two vehicles are believed to be 52002 + 59799. Martyn Hilbert.
On a snowy March 23rd 1980, a Derby built Class 107 Driving Motor Brake Second SC52002, complete with 'Greater Glasgow Trans-Clyde' branding, had been split from three-car set 148 and was stood in the yard at Hamilton Depot. SC52002 would be finally withdrawn from service in March 1986 and scrapped at Ayr Depot. Martyn Hilbert.
Derby Set 149 pulls away from Paisley Canal on 13:07 Glasgow Central - Kilmacolm as passengers cross the temporary footbridge. The operational station building and footbridge was on the Causeyside Street overbridge, behind the DMU. However, this burned down and was replaced by a Portakabin on the Glasgow bound platform (visible to the left of the leading cab) adjacent to the moribund main station building. Ironically, the building survived closure as a pub / restaurant. Saturday 15 November 1980. alicia hartman.

The driver shields his eyes from the low winter sun as Hamilton based class 107 DMS Sc52032 leads 14:57 to Edinburgh out of Glasgow Central on24th January 1981. A class 303 working a Cathcart Circle service can be seen behind. Note the old Corkerhill allocation number 132 and later set number 150 on the 107 DMS. This seemed to be a spare vehicle that floated between sets and very soon after in would be in set 443 when the 4xx series was introduced. The Central to Edinburgh services could hardly be described as Inter-City with a pedestrian pace round the south. Sc52032 was withdrawn from Ayr depot around March 1984 having been a victim of the depot fire in the January. The by then closed store Paisleys, a once well known Glasgow tailors and outfitters can be seen behind. It closed in 1979 with the building demolished in 1993. A Jurys Inn Hotel now occupies the site. Bruce Galloway.
Hamilton depot, 18 April 1981. Closest is a Class 107 vehicle, the odd placement of the overhead flash identifies it as SC52004. On the left is a single suburban vehicle, probably a 116. Stuart Mackay Collection.
