A Class 108 DMU (51912 + 54493) stabled in sidings at Bedford between duties on the Kettering to Corby shuttle service, 28 May 1988. Brian Creasey.
Carry an unusual mix of set numbers, 51912 + 51916 are seen at Gospel Oak on 3/12/92 with the 14:45 to Barking. Sparegang.
A (blue square) Derby Lightweight twin (M51913 and presumably M56496) thought to be working the shuttle between St Helens Junction and St Helens Shaw Street (now Central). Date unknown, the shuttle ended in June 1965, so the yellow panel dates it to the 1963-5 period. Behind the unit used to be Peasley Cross station which closed in 1951. There are not many passengers on board, and the seat moquette which I can see better on the original scan is the same as that used in the 2nd class of the Marylebone quads (see image 15353) and the Ayrshire Swindon Inter-City sets (image 24623). Stuart Mackay Collection.

51913 leads a two-car Class 108 DMU rolling into Hale with a Chester service in late January 1984. Chris Thorp.
With a sprinkling of snow on the ground, M51913 sits in CF Booths at Rotherham with much of its interior ripped out and thrown outside. Circa 1991. Robert Frise Collection.
Class 108 DMBS 51913 from LO265 is in the air at the EDU at Derby on the 15th Aug 1991. On the left 53015/55929 is under conversion to 977775. John Reddyhoff.
With St Helens on the destination blind, a refurbished Class 108 Driving Motor Brake Second (DMBS) M51914 was leading an eight-car rake of 108's (4 x 2-car sets), passing Kirkham North Junction with an ECS working from Blackpool North on September 10th 1977. The units were running along the now-removed Up station avoiding line. Martyn Hilbert.
Derby Class 108 unit M51914 and M56484 on Allerton Depot, 7th June 1981. Note the left alignment of the BR logo. The Allerton power-trailer sets such as this typically carried the BR logo, its power twins the Merseyside PTE logo. Paul James.
Inside the shed at Bletchley on 26/9/87 were Class 108 vehicles 51914 & 54279, and Class 127 Parcels set 910. Shayne Lewis.
51914 Class 108 is seen stabled outside the factory at Tyseley on 24.04.1988. It is on the wheel lathe line. Andy Cole.
A Derby Class 108 DMU with DMBS 51914 and DTSL 54194 arrives into Bedford Midland from Bletchley on 7 October 1989. Dave Warby.
Derby Class 108 DMBS 51914 paired with DTCL 54194 in Bletchley station while on Bedford duties on 7 October 1989. Dave Warby.
A 2 car class 108 unit with vehicles 51914 + 54279 is pictured about to stop at Stewartby station on the Bedford to Bletchley line on 7 April 1990. The crossing here was still hand operated by a crossing keeper at this time which indicated that the road here wasn't especially busy. Peter Tandy.
A Class 108 2-car dmu, comprising vehicles 51916 + 51571 at Kettering to form a service for Corby (despite what s showing in the destination panel!) on 18 August 1987. As this was a south-facing bay at Kettering I assume the unit will shunt to one of the main line platforms before heading to Corby. Lewis Bevan.
Class 108 vehicles 51916 + 54194 about to stop at Fenny Stratford station on the single line section of the Bedford - Bletchley line, 19th March 1990. Peter Tandy.
This 2 car class 108, formed of 51916 + 54194, looked as if it has recently been painted into Network South-East livery as it stood in the rain at Bletchley on 19 March 1990. As the destination blind suggests the train was on the regular diagram to Bedford Midland which has seen quite a variety of motive power over the years. In 2022 the service is operated with Vivarail 2 car class 230s, although staffing issues mean the buses are used on many journeys. Peter Tandy.
The second station at Corby was open between 13 April 1987 and 2 June 1990. Here is one of workings on the last day, with class 108 DMU (51916+54194) at the little platform on the shuttle to Kettering. A third station opened on 23 February 2009 and it now sees an hourly service to London. Note the small RIP board attached to the left hand lamp iron. Kevin Lane.
On 27 August 1983 Class 47 no 47342 is seen at Llandudno having dragged a Class 101/108 dmu formation. I had this down as a Blythe Bridge-Llandudno "additional" service, but the "Class 47 list" website says that the train was an 09.22 Stoke-Llandudno relief. I travelled on this train from Llandudno Junction, but I have no idea where the 47 was attached. Lewis Bevan.
