Two intending passengers greet the arrival of a two-car Class 108 DMU formed of cars M56263 & M50980 as it arrives at Croston with an Ormskirk to Preston service on September 8th 1979. The station although heavily rationalised still retained its LMS concrete lamps on the single remaining operational platform on this one-time main line. The chimney in the background formed part of the brickworks that was once rail-served. Martyn Hilbert.
A Class 108 formed of cars M56263 & M50973 arrives at Burscough Junction with the 12.57 Preston to Ormskirk on 21st June 1980. The station had an ever so long down platform complete with a bay, both a legacy from the days when Burscough Junction was on the former double track ex L&Y mainline between Preston & Liverpool Exchange. The connection was still in from Burscough Bridge serving the MOF warehouses through the gate on the right. Martyn Hilbert.
In blue/grey livery Class 108 M56263 & M50973 awaits departure from Burscough Junction with the 13.37 Ormskirk to Preston on June 21st 1980. To the right of the 108 is the disused former Up line, and platform and just visible in the distance on the far right is the siding connection to the MOF warehouses, linked via a flat crossing over the Ormskirk route and accessed from Burscough Bridge via the now lifted South Curve. Martyn Hilbert.
Despite the tail lights being switched on, and the destination blind showing 'Blackpool', the two-car Class 108 formed of cars M56263 & M50973 was arriving at Kirkham & Wesham with the service from Blackpool South on June 6th 1984. These were the days when the Coast Line from Kirkham was operated by a shuttle service that started/terminated at Kirkham. Martyn Hilbert.

Three Class 108 twin DMUs in Stockport station. Undated, M54264 is closest with set number N602 on the side (Newton Heath, 1988/9) and T202 on the front (Tyseley, 1989), but this is likely from the 1990-2 period when it was allocated to Longsight depot. Stuart Mackay Collection.

A two-car Class 108 DMU, formed of cars M56265 (Complete with its First Class saloon) & DMBS M50982, were arriving at Croston with a Preston to Ormskirk service on September 16th 1977. The station still retained its LMS concrete platform lamps, and the former Down platform is visible on the left, including the holes and the patch in the stonework of the bridge, where steps once connected Station Road to the platform, a legacy from the days when this was a double track main line from Preston to Liverpool Exchange. Martyn Hilbert.

A train formed of at least 7 cars, formed of a pair of Class 108 2 car DMUs, M56265 leading, with at least a 3 car Class 101 on the rear, enters Carlisle Station from the north, 6th September 1980. From the looks of the stickers on the first unit, it may have been forming a special train. Paul James.
There was a series of special trains on Saturday 20 October 1990 operating in connection with a Network North-West day sponsored by Motive Power Monthly Power Monthly magazine. It was a good opportunity to photograph some odd workings, including a class 26 + 31 combination, so unusually for me I had a ride around on a discounted ticket. One of the special trains visited Barrow in Furness where this photograph of the "Auto Gear" class 108 (54265 + 53954) was taken passing the impressive North signalbox with a terminating service. Peter Tandy.
