5th June 1987

A Derby Heavyweight class 114 dmu stands on the freight only line, where the remains of Shirebrook station is, with one of the Shirebrook-Worksop Open Day shuttles on 5th June 1987. This line reopened to passengers as a through route again between Nottingham and Worksop in 1998 and is branded as the Robin Hood Line. Andrew J Crowther.

A Derby Heavyweight class 114 dmu crosses Shirebrook Junc on the freight only line, with one of the Worksop-Shirebrook-Worksop Open Day shuttles, 5th June 1987. This line that the train is on reopened to passengers as a through route again between Nottingham and Worksop in 1998 and is branded as the Robin Hood Line, the line off to the right lead eventually to High Marnham Power station, as well as serving the many many collieries on the way, which have now all gone. This line that the train is on reopened to passengers as a through route again between Nottingham and Worksop in 1998 and is branded as the Robin Hood Line. The front unit is the sole South Yorkshire Transport PTE liveried unit 54004 & 53045, which was liveried up to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the SYPTE IN 1984. Andrew J Crowther.

Class 114 54004 is seen at Shirebrook open day on 06.06.1987. This was the only 2 car Class 114 painted in South Yorkshire PTE Brown and Cream livery. Note that the trailer has had the bodyside SYPTE 1984 anniversary stickers reapplied. Andy Cole.

The 49-strong fleet of Class 114 2-car DMUs spent most of their working lives based at Lincoln depot. Although a local type with standard bus seating, they had a wide sphere of operation in Eastern England, covering Lincolnshire, Humberside, Nottinghamshire and South Yorkshire, but regularly worked deeper into West / North Yorkshire, reaching Darlington in the north and Peterborough in the south. They often worked into Leeds on services to / from Sheffield, and here, 53046 & 54042 are sen at City station with a Sheffield service on 14/06/1987. Graeme Phillips Collection.

Keith has noted Class 105 Departmental DMU TDB977453, DMUs 53026, 54026, 54039 and 53005 in this view of Lincoln depot on 12 July 1987. In the platform on the left are the two departmental 100s: 975539 + 975349 and 975637 + 975664; it looks like the Cravens is next in that line, presumably its partner is 977454. Keith Miller.

A Class 114 Derby Heavyweight DMU arrived Platform 5 at Cambridge August 1987. The DTS has oval buffers and still has two windscreen wipers, many only had one by this period. That means it is probably 54043. On Tour With The Class 13 Army.
