A countryside walk from Beaconsfield to Amersham took me over the Aylesbury to London line via a footbridge at Little Missenden on the 31st July 1985. There I photographed Class 115 51886 (leading) + 59728 + 59762 + 51887 on a service for Marylebone. It is pictured approaching from the west. S Gaskell.

Several Class 115 Suburban 4-Car DMU sets were stabled for the weekend to the North of Aylesbury station on January 8th 1984. The nearest set in this view was formed of cars M51888, M59747, M59743 & M51900. Built in 1960 at Derby for use on services from Marylebone over the ex GC & GC/GW joint lines, the units were also employed on longer distance workings to Nottingham Victoria in the twilight years of the Great Central Main Line as a trunk route. A Class 115 DMU (51889 closest) with an Aylesbury service in Marylebone station, July 1975. Opened by Great Central Railway 1899, it was the last London main line terminus to be built, designed by the GCR's civil engineer Henry Braddock in English Renaissance style. There is another train shed to the left which is not visible in the photo. The train shed on the right was demolished in the late 1980's and replaced by new office development. Two new platforms were constructed in the very wide central platform (which had a cab rank). Hugh Llewelyn.
