A two-car Class 120 DMU - minus the regular centre trailer car. They are seen having just crossed the roadbridge over the former A30 at Tregoss Moor, between Roche and St. Columb Major, and are working the 11.38 from Par to Newquay on Saturday 28 October 1972. Anthony Williams.

Two 3-car units arrive at Aberdeen with the 8:40am from Inverness but are unusually having to use Platform 8 due to a special for Kyle of Lochalsh waiting to depart north in Platform 6. The pillars that once supported the canopies still stand but not for much longer. There is a sprinkling of snow on the ground on 17 February 1973. John McIntyre.

2nd June 1973

0940 Crewe to Cardiff at Ludlow in mid 1973. Buffet car in use on this service and its identification can just be seen in large white letters on the trailer. I am not sure if these buffets were decommissioned in the early 60s then re commisioned when the 120s took over from Loco Hauled services on this route in about 1970 or if they were continuously in use as buffets from when built. A class 120 dmu departing Inverness for Aberdeen on 08-04-1974. An everyday sight from 1960 to 1980, seven 3 car class 120 sets were based at Inverness for the direct service to Aberdeen. Also seen on the branches of the old Great North of Scotland Railway in Aberdeenshire and Banffshire until Dr. Beeching put a stop to that. Gordon Thomson.
