A Cardiff Swindon Cross-Country DMU in platform 1 of Gloucester Central on 19th October 1974. Gloucester was the southwestern extent of my Midlands Runabout ticket and I had just arrived from Birmingham and would soon take the bridge to Eastgate and return from there back to Birmingham shortly. No point in hanging about in the rain! Pete LG99.

Hereford Station, 05/75, on the GWR/LNWR Joint "Welsh Marches Line" (or Border Route) between Newport and Shrewsbury. The station was also a junction with the Great Western lines to Three Cocks Junction (and hence Brecon) (now closed), Worcester (and eventually Paddington) and Ross-on-Wye (now closed). In the platforms show a Crewe - Cardiff Class 120 dmu and a Hereford - Paddington express. Hugh Llewelyn.

An Aberdeen - Inverness service between Kennethmont and Gartley at 12:40 on Monday 19 May 1975. Formed of three three-car Class 120s, the middle set contains two brake vehicles (a DMBC and DMBF). Three of the brake vehicles in the train are DMBF conversions, and all four brake vehicles have tablet catchers. The centre car in the closest set has no red stripe - the others are too far to tell, none of the three have 'Buffet' lettering. Stuart Mackay Collection.

The centre car on the leading set has no buffet markings, the one in the rear set has a red band along the length of the whole vehicle.
