A BR (Derby) Class 127 4-car suburban dmu in Rail Blue with all-yellow front ends leaving St Pancras on a Bedford service on a very wet day in August, 1982. These dmu's should have been replaced by then new Class 316 emu's by that time but an industrial dispute over 1-man operation delayed their introduction. Hugh Llewelyn.

Having not long arrived with an afternoon service from St Albans, a CW allocated 4 Car Class 127 Diesel Hydraulic DMU set, sits in Platform 7 at St Pancras awaiting its next duty, with a rather unusual paint job on the leading vehicle M51615 (Which seems to have been applied for an unknown reason around Sept 1979) .... Withdrawn from Cricklewood on 7th August 1983, it was converted to a Parcels vehicle and renumbered to 55975 from May 1985 and allocated to Longsight. Final withdrawal came four years later and it was scrapped by Vic Berry's at Leicester .... 7th September 1982. Nigel Mack.

This is the Branch Line Society (BLS) Class 127 Farewell Railtour from London St Pancras which visited Bedford, Oxford and Marylebone. Formation was 51618/59645/59615/51592 (from the Six Bells Junction website). This has a lunch stop at Quainton Road from where departure was delayed while some emergency welding was carried out. Derby Works built the units, which entered service in 1959. They had hydraulic transmission with Rolls Royce engines. This location is Stewartby, on the Bedford to Bletchley line. Jeremy Chapter.
