The carriage sidings at Bedford Midland photographed in February 1981, full of Class 127 dmus awaiting their next duties. The "new" Bedford Midland station can be seen in the distance, with another Class 127 reversing before returning on a service to St Pancras. These sidings were swept away to make space for the extended car park at Bedford, and the Class 127s were all replaced when the line was electrified by Class 319 emus. Lewis Bevan.
With a clue to the vehicle number being shown in the headcode Class 127 DMBS M51617 is seen in Bedford station on 19 March 1981. Rob Edwards.

51606 sits at London St. Pancras waiting to depart with another service to Bedford on 8/May/1981. It would appear that the driver's windscreen has been replaced with a spare/reclaimed one from the second man's side at some point, unless an overhead warning flash has been placed somewhat unusually on the driver's side. 51606 was later reborn as one of the parcels conversions; 55969 (originally 55989 but renumbered on account of duplicating a class 128 running number). Robert Chilton.

A class 127 dmu, the headcode suggests M51637 is closest, rests at St Pancras between trips circa 1982. This was during the class' Indian Summer due to the industrial stand off on Driver Only Operation of the class 317 units. Tony Walmsley.
A Class 127 with a van attached arrives into Luton in 1982. John Law.
A class 127 DMU, with car M51642 nearest the camera, stands at St Pancras station. I would date this to around 1982,as the wires are in place for the new class 317 service, which was delayed for a while due to a BR/ASLEF dispute. Curly42.
