The details on the rear has the title 'Midland Suburban Electrification - London-Bedford' and the text 'A four-car diesel multiple unit leaving St. Pancras station. The trains are shortly to be replaced by four-car Class 317 electric multiple units.' Leading is M51599, the second car is M59610 in blue/grey livery. British Rail.

Several parcels DMUs converted from former "Bed-Pan" hydraulic class 127 units stand forlornly withdrawn at Crewe Gresty Lane, with 55979 (formerly 51600) leading the line. Seen on 26/May/1991, some component recovery has taken place prior to their dispatch for scrap, mainly the removal of doors. Three of these units escaped and were preserved. Robert Chilton.
