On the last day of 1983 the Stourbridge shuttle service between Stourbridge Junction and the Town station was in the hands of 55012, a Tyseley based Gloucester DMBS Class 122. The photograph was taken from Parkfield Road bridge looking towards the station which at this time was slightly nearer the bus station. On the left is the bulk of St John's United Reform Church. The branch was a dismal place at this time, trees were breaching the retaining walls (left) and part of the wall had collapsed (right). The bus station can be glimpsed through the trees, a number of Daimler Fleetlines in WMPTE blue and cream livery are present. Geoff Dowling.

Gloucester DMBS Class 122 55012 is leaving Stourbridge Junction for Stourbridge Town on 31/12/1983, it is passing one of the two operating signals on the branch (there was a fixed distant further down). In those days the service was sparse compared with the 10 minute schedule maintained by the class 139 units, the 122's would sit and dwell for about 10 or 15 minutes between wheezing up or down the line. Geoff Dowling.

On the slightly delapidated platform at Alvechurch Station a few passengers wait for the 12.50 Four Oaks to Redditch train. That train is lead by 53890, one of Tyseley's faithful class 116 dmus. Just under the leading car is a foot crossing, this was to a field path, today that is reached by using the new overbridge to the second platform which has recently been built at this now twin track, electrified station. Geoff Dowling.

The original Corby Station is alive and well in this picture taken 22/05/1965, that is certainly a very full trolley waiting to be loaded. Image taken by Peter Shoesmith. Geoff Dowling and John Whitehouse Collection.

As fine snow fell and the sky became more leaden we did wonder about getting home again. No point in worrying so a photograph of 52102 leading the 10.45 Manchester - Cleethorpes was taken as it approached Edale station in the gathering gloom on 28/01/1984. Geoff Dowling.

Only it's mother could love it... DMPV 55993 is at Wellington East with a parcels working from Aberystwyth to Wolverhampton on 11/09/1985. The unit is a Gloucester RC&W product class 128, these units were never good looking when new but after the gangway ends were plated over the word 'hideous' springs to mind. Geoff Dowling.

This derelict hut, the size and shape of a weighbridge office, stood at the back of the goods yard at Alvechurch station. Through the glassless window a Class 116 dmu is working the 15.23 Redditch - Four Oaks service on 05/05/1984. Geoff Dowling.
